New Year Resolution
Came across this on GoodReads.com recently…
I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.
Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re Doing Something.
So that’s my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody’s ever made before. Don’t freeze, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good enough, or it isn’t perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.
Whatever it is you’re scared of doing, Do it.
Make your mistakes, next year and forever.
― Neil Gaiman
…gave me pause for thought.
A new year begins
Well…another year passes and a new one begins.
2012 was a fairly tough year, but at least we all survived the Mayan calendar doomsday predictions ![]()
Here’s hoping that 13 will be a lucky number for us all…
Rant: Crappy new year
What a shite few months we’ve had!
A seemingly endless list of personal problems, work issues and general winter maladies left everyone pretty tired and depressed by the time Christmas rolled around and we were looking forward to some quiet time to recharge the batteries and get ourselves back on a more even keel.
Unfortunately it wasn’t to be.
Another year passes…
Well, that’s 2008 finished. For many folks it’s not been a good one and I suspect that they are glad to put it behind them.
Beyond the impact of the credit crunch, the Russians and Georgians scrapping and the inevitable Christmas kickoff between Israel and Hamas, 2008 did have a few highlights. The election of Barrack Obama heralded the end of the Bush era and there’s not many of us outside the US who are sorry to see THAT happen.
Resolutions…
Thing to do this year:-
- Have more fun (and do less work)
- Laugh more (and grumble less)
- Relax more (and worry less)
- Be more happy (and less angry)
- Be more patient (and less critical)
- Strive for new goals
- Accept limitations
- Learn more
- Love deeper
- Be happy
