Employee Benefits on a new scale.
Judging by today’s police raid on a cannabis factory in Nottinghamshire, the union of illegal drug producers has scored some major concessions recently.
The ex-chicken factory apparently had separate rooms for staff quarters – each with their own flat screen TV. There was even a fully equipped gym!
All they needed was a profit-sharing scheme, a couple of team building junkets and an annual BBQ (complete with bouncy castle for the kids) and they would have been the envy of downtrodden workers throughout the country!
Maybe I need to negotiate extra benefits when my contract comes up for renewal.![]()
Bush Assassination? Not today…

Today’s supposed row over the TV drama “Death of a President” was a small but meaningful 40th birthday gift for me.
The drama on More4, uses actors and computer effects to portray “president” Bush being shot dead during an anti-war rally in Chicago in 2007.
I won’t go so far as to say I wish it had been an actual news story instead of a piece of fictionalised TV, but for the first time, I actually found myself regretting the fact that I was not a TV subscriber!
R.I.P Ronnie
Sad news this week about the passing of Ronnie Barker, who was a much loved figure in millions of homes all over the world.
As a kid growing up in the 70′s I remember “The Two Ronnies“, “Porridge” and “Open all hours” as particular favourites, but there were of course many others; the one thing you could be certain of, is if Ronnie B was on the screen, you would have a laugh!
Ronnie was also the first to recognise the talents of David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst and it could be said that he helped plant and nurture the seeds that would grow into the much-loved Peckham partnership of Del-boy and Rodney. He was also a prolific writer, an excellent actor and from all accounts a very nice bloke to boot!
So long Ronnie and thanks for the memories!
Rant: Davina – get a LIFE!
Dizzy dame Davina McCall is getting miffed about all those nasty little comments people are making about “Big Bother”. She claims that her critics are all “pseudo-intellectuals who have never really watched it”.
Sorry Davina, but right from the beginning this has been television equivilant of septic tank effluent and nothing more than a platform for a handful of fat, talentless, brainless chavs/trailer trash to show the world how truly stupid they really are…it’s all it ever was and all it ever will be.
And if – as McCall claims – the show’s contestants represented a balance of British society and are not “freaks”, then we are ALL truly in trouble!
For me, the one positive thing that has come out of this crapola “pseudo-television” is that it has finally pushed me to cancel my TV license…and I’ve never been happier!
