Struggle & Toil
So Long GLA
It’s been interesting, but my time back in the smoke is over (at least for now).
I’ll shortly be starting work in Slough (nowhere near as nice but a lot closer and cheaper to get to) and I just hope the traffic wont drive me too mad.
Farewell web team – it was nice working with you.
NEWSFLASH: Machines join Humans for Sickie Day
Following yesterday’s National Sickie Day where an estimated 300,000 people in the UK skived off work, it seems that today the machines are following suit.
My train into London was delayed this morning due to signal failure. When I finally reached London Waterloo, I discovered that a power failure on the Jubilee line had created the usual tube chaos.
In desperation, I fought my way through the throngs to the Bakerloo line, only to be delayed there due to some unspecified problem or other, for 20 minutes. Eventually I switched back to the Northern line to be told that passenger congestion at bank station (caused by ongoing escalator problems) meant I was delayed further.
Goin’ Underground
Now that I’m back into the whole London commute thing after a prolonged absence, I’m pleased to see that while a few aspects of the whole rail network have improved, some things are just as I remember them.
But it’s too nice a day to go through the whinge list so instead I browsed around the web and came up with the following ditties, all of which are good for a Friday larf.
Back in the City
After finishing up with my previous contract in June, I have to confess I’ve been a bit lazy. I was hoping for a long hot summer of dossing around, punctuated by a few great gigs.
Sadly neither the weather or Ticketmaster was playing ball and the summer was a bit of a washout.
Farewell to the NPIA
The job is done and it’s time to move on.
Best of luck team – it was fun working with you all.
Farewell to Centrex

Well – time to say farewell to the Centrex crew.
After spending 15 months working on the Centrex Website and Intranet, it’s time to move on.
It certainly was one of the most interesting and challenging projects I’ve worked on for a good many years and the opportunity to work at a site as spectaular as Bramshill doesn’t come along very often.
Here’s hoping the future is every bit as bright as the past and that you all find a suitable place inside the new and improved police authority/infrastructure that the Home office is busy cobbling together.
What else can I say except so long…and thanks for all the memories!
Centrex site nominated for New Statesman award.
Just been told that the Centrex Website has been nominated for a New Statesman Award (Modernising Government category).
Might have meant a bit more to me if the boss had included me in the congrats memo (instead, in typical style the kudos included 2 other managers: one of whom was a permanent project obstacle and the other of whom did sod all!) – oh well – that’s a contractors lot I suppose…
